The EOB (Explanation of Benefits) section helps you track payments from insurance companies. Upload EOB documents and Lemma extracts the payment details so you can reconcile claims without manual data entry.

Uploading an EOB

  1. Go to EOB and select Upload
  2. Upload a PDF of the explanation of benefits document
  3. Lemma extracts the payment information automatically
The extraction job appears in the Active jobs table. Processing typically takes a few moments.

Viewing insurance payments

Once extraction completes, the parsed payments appear in the Insurance payments table showing:
  • Payer — the insurance company
  • Payment date
  • Amount paid
Select a payment to see the full breakdown:
  • Payer and payee details (addresses, phone numbers, tax IDs)
  • Patient and member information
  • Individual claim line items with CPT codes
  • Service dates, amounts charged, amounts paid, and patient responsibility

Automatic lockbox matching

When an insurance check arrives at your lockbox and matches an uploaded EOB, Lemma links the two together so you can see the complete payment lifecycle — from the EOB document to the deposited check.
